Historic District: Contributing vs Non-Contributing Status

Northcrest Historic District Contributing / Non-Contributing Status Map

Alterations with no Adverse Effect

  • Side additions that do not obscure the original size and architecture of the house, or change its proportions, or compromise its ability to make a contribution to the historic character and appearance of the neighborhood, or to the street scene on which it is located
  • New exterior materials that do not compromise the overall form, proportions, and detailing of the historic house that is similar to the original in texture and color
  • Carports and garages that are constructed so that the form of the original garage or carport is still visible from the front facing facade

Four Categories of Non-Contributing Properties

  1. Front addition which alters street facing facade
  2. Significant alterations to the garage or carport
  3. Extensive alterations to the roofline
  4. Buildings built after the district’s period of significance (1959-1972)

Examples of Non-Contributing Properties:

Front addition which alters street facing facade
Significant alterations to the garage or carport
Extensive alterations to the roofline
Buildings built after the district’s period of significance (1959-1972)
