Northcrest and the Development of the Ranch House

There was some mention of Northcrest in the recent DOCOMOMO "Consider the Ranch" lecture held at DWR in Buckhead on the 14th. I posted some notes on the Modusmodern blog:

it would be great if you could post links to resources that might be useful to modern home owners in atlanta, and particularly to northcrest homeowners, as a source for reputable companies to do work on modern houses. we bought a house here a couple of years ago and there are a lot of issues we need professional help with but so far all the referrals we have gotten from neighbors haven't panned out. you don't have to endorse them, just maybe say "so and so had this done and said so and so did a great job". any chance of that?

i can see the hope of a reply is probably fruitless. as a northcrest resident, that's a little disappointing. it's like pulling teeth to get good recommendations to do work on our house. i guess that explains why so many houses on our street are dilapidated looking.

It's really tough to publish recommendations on the web - I used to publish some recommendations but have pulled them down - the main issue has to do with liability - I could recommend several service people (some are true artisans) I've used in the past, but if you're experience isn't as good as mine, I could be brought in to some type of civil action. It gets really ugly once something is published, so I try to keep my referals to in person type meetings. If you need someone you can always write me an email directly or call me (my number is in several neighborhood directories).
