Northcrest Tour of Homes 2005 Brochure Cover
On April 10th Northcrest's Hoe 'n' Hope Garden Club had their yearly Tour of Homes. The garden club does this to help promote the neighborhood, highlight unusual or original homes, and raise money for the maintenance of the main entry planter (beneath the Northcrest sign).

3703 Summitridge Drive - 2013.08

3703 Summitridge Drive - Conrad and Danna Cain
This stop on the tour features the front yard garden only.

This beautiful outdoor haven was designed and built by the owners - who are both professional landscapers. You will have an opportunity to stroll the colorful garden paths and enjoy the outdoor living areas of this award- winning, two-sided garden. The side seen from the street is a large sweep of flowering shrubs, perennials, bulbs, and annuals.

Today, you'll have an opportunity to enter the paths and view the "garden rooms" on the other side. Don't miss the deck, pond and waterfall at the front door as you enjoy this special place recently designated as a Wildlife Habitat by the Atlanta Audubon Society.

This beautifully landscaped front yard features: deck as front porch * pond and waterfall grading and drainage solutions organic herb and "salad" garden * deep bed prep with organic soil * chemical-free maintenance plants that attract birds and butterflies * four seasons of interest * plenty of places to sit, relax, and enjoy it all.

3608 Eaglerock Drive - 2022.03

3608 Eaglerock Drive - Heather and Eric Lowe
A Northcrest original with no prior ren- ovations, Heather and Eric's home was purchased from the original homeowner. In order to start with a clean palette, they began with removal of the shag carpeting, kitchen cabinetry, appliances and wood paneling. Although Heather and Eric wanted to bring a more contemporary feel to the home, they also wanted to maintain its historic integrity. Their careful renovations have included bamboo floors throughout, removing the kitchen walls to open up the space, and custom cabinets with Swanstone countertops. In addition, they also opened up, reconfigured, and updated the basement to give it a warm, modern feel.

New paint inside and out has given this house a bright new outlook, made even more so inside by removal of the translucent corrugated panels from the front porch roof. A new deck off the dining room, and removal of overgrown landscaping have helped highlight the architecture.

What's next? Landscaping!

3680 Eaglerock Drive - 2008.01

3680 Eaglerock Drive - Jeff and Jocelyn Davis
The main entrance and living area of this home have been recently transformed by replacing the original front porch with a new living room designed by architect Lisa Stacholy. The original living room is now a full sized dining room, with the original outside wall converted to an open archway connecting the old and new spaces. Hardwood floors grace the newly joined rooms, and will continue into the kitchen (work in progress). The wall between dining room and kitchen has been modified for an open, flow-through design and track lighting provides perfect illumination in a challenging space.

The kitchen is currently being remodeled and will feature new locations for the oven and cooktop, a larger window, a pantry cabinet, and additional counter space.

Other previous improvements include a raised and insulated roof covered with industrial "torched down" rolled material, and an expanded storage/workshop adjacent to the carport.

3490 Bowling Green Way - 2013.08

3490 Bowling Green Way - Lana Chase
Lana's home is a California ranch with vaulted ceilings in every room. The living room is light and open, with a wall of patio doors leading into a courtyard. An arbor of wisteria and a water garden are visible from the living room.

The property features extensive, mature landscaping, and a large, three-tiered deck adjacent to the courtyard is perfect for entertaining. A Japanese Tea House spa enclosure is on the lower deck.

A clever garage renovation adds to the livable square footage, providing a spacious suite of rooms for visiting friends and family. Mirrored sliding closet doors and bright lighting in the narrow bedroom hallway creates an illusion of spaciousness. A walk-in closet was added to the master bedroom. The kitchen cabinets are painted white and accent decorations coordinate with the vintage turquoise oven.
New renovations include rebuilding the water garden, new slate courtyard steps, master bath update, lighting, and paint.

3670 Summitridge Drive - 2013.08

3670 Summitridge Drive - Geoff and Debbie Newsholme
A twelve-year work in progress, this Northcrest home has undergone tremendous interior and exterior change, but the home's original clean lines and well-known "Northcrest" extended roof overhang are still very much present. Now, a beautiful leaded glass door leads into a large, well-lit entry foyer. Just off the foyer, a new bedroom with skylights and large, walk-in closet offers a family member privacy from the remainder of the house. The final phase of the front-of-the-house construction, a two-car garage, now serves as a workshop for Geoff.

The main floor (or second level) has been thoroughly transformed as well. Removing the center dividing wall and relocating the appliances opened up space for a large, functional kitchen and open, inviting living and dining spaces. Everything on this level is new from the floor up.

The master bedroom was enlarged by removing a wall and adding a walk-in closet at one end, and French doors lead both into the room and out onto a roof- top deck. Still to come- remodeling the original pink bathroom!

We invite you to join the Hoe 'n' Hope Garden Club! We meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm at a member's home. For more information, call our President, Elly Benson at (770) 938-0385.
