Northcrest Tour of Homes 2003

On April 27th Northcrest's Hoe 'n' Hope Garden Club had their yearly Tour of Homes. The garden club does this to help promote the neighborhood, highlight unusual or original homes, and raise money for the maintenance of the main entry planter (beneath the Northcrest sign).

  • 3581 Eaglerock Drive

  • 3457 Summitridge Drive

3712 Eaglerock Drive - 2006.05.29

3712 Eaglerock Drive - Stephanie and Larry Hart
The front entrance welcomes visitors with a terraced stone walkway flanked by a waterfall and pond, leading to a new windowed door with sidelights. Entering the living room, notice the bow window and custom lighting. Doors and drawers have been replaced on kitchen cabinets, with countertops of granite and tiled backsplash. New lighting and ash wood flooring.

Two new dining-room built-ins - a lighted china cabinet built into the back of the kitchen cabinets, and a granite-top buffet on the outside wall.

Bedrooms have been wallpapered and baths partially updated; trim and doors in the entire house have been replaced. Lower level has a new custom-built cabinet and bookshelf. Custom draperies and lighting complete the room. The bonus room has been converted to a full home office for Larry.

The yard has been landscaped using flowering plants and shrubs, and is accented by walls and walking paths.

3581 Eaglerock Drive Greg - 2016.02.20 GSU

3581 Eaglerock Drive - Greg and Kristen Kametches
The owners kept the integrity of the classic Northcrest home while expanding the living space by more than 1,500 square feet. The carport has been enclosed for the new play- room; there is a new dining room, laundry room (on the main floor!), a hideaway room for Kristen, and a slate-floored screened-in porch.

The grade of the property was altered significantly to accommodate a new driveway that leads to a two-car garage and slate front-door walkway.

The amenities have been updated and additional storage added throughout the house (built-in window seats with storage below, additional built-in cabinetry. The main level is bathed in sunlight during the day!

All this is in addition to what was shown on the last Tour of Homes: a master suite complete with walk-in closet and garden tub; hall bath with European shower; open kitchen with bar area; and new hardwood flooring and natural stone throughout.

3431 Heartwood Lane - 2009.11.04

3431 Heartwood Lane - Brian Robboy / Kevin Gnewikow
Brian and Kevin have worked hard to balance current technology with mid-century modern design.

The kitchen was reconfigured in the same space to eliminate the oven tower but still include a full-sized wall oven. A two-sided, 36"x72" Corian prep counter allows several people to work comfortably in the space, and an in-wall pantry maximizes storage.

Other changes include hardwoods on the main level, and expansion of the lower level into office space for Brian's graphic design business, glass sunroom, and an additional bedroom/bath suite.

Technology upgrades include "Cat 5" network wiring, digital phone system, and central vacuum with automatic dustpans in kitchen and basement. The major addition in progress, designed by architect Mo Heidari, features a two-car garage/workshop, launand dry room, storage; a second-floor master suite; and a third-floor loft with spiral staircase.

3457 Summitridge Drive - 2007.11.14

3457 Summitridge Drive - Michael Wanchow / Randy Ford
Owners Randy and Michael have made a number of aesthetic and functional changes featuring earth- tone colors and natural materials - all of which contribute to the light, open feel of this ranch home. Skylights and dormer windows bring a significant amount of natural light to the kitchen, den, hallways, and foyer and help create a sense of openness. Track lighting throughout the house highlights the owners' artwork.

New kitchen cabinets and appliances, hardwood flooring, and bathroom updates add function and provide a lighter, more open feel. Adding to the home's livable square footage, the owners have created a new guest room from a storage area between the living room and garage that was formerly accessible only from outside.

Exterior improvements include new decks, container plantings, and an arbor for outdoor entertaining.

We invite you to join the Hoe 'n' Hope Garden Club! We meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm at a member's home. For more information, call our President, Laura Cederquist at (770) 491-6313

Note: Unfortunately I didn't take any photos at this event (it was early days of digital cameras so a different time). I have substituted some later images of the individual homes if I have them.
